Marauders Takes Escape from Tarkov and Goes to Space
And #5 on the latest Steam Top Sellers charts.
The Top Five 🥇
Another week, another spot claimed by Valve’s first party products. Maybe I should start cutting them out because this isn’t supposed to be about consoles or console accessories. For what it’s worth, #6 is Lost Ark and #7 is Destiny 2, neither of which is surprising.
Marauders, however, is an interesting one. You’ve heard of Escape from Tarkov, right? Well, Marauders has the inventory management system and mechanics of the Twitch mainstay with the looks of Wolfenstein, but in space with ship to ship combat, boarding, and looting.
If that sounds appealing, I recommend you at least check out the Steam page because it looks super interesting to be honest. The game just went into early access on October 3 and a lot of the reviews say it’s a far more accessible Tarkov which sounds promising.
(As a note, I shouldn’t admit this, but I had no clue that Tarkov is only available via the developer’s website which explains why it never charts).
Special bonus recommendation: I suspect we’ll see Coral Island make next week’s report as it’s currently the best selling game on October 11. It’s another 3D Stardew Valley-like with 70 villagers (25 of which you can date) as you make the island a better place for everyone.
If this wasn’t an email newsletter, I’d overload you with images of both. Some really cool games in this week’s edition folks.
Five New Games 🆕
ULTRAKILL (#80)
If you’re a fan of rapid movement shooters like Quake and Unreal or the blood and guts of Doom, ULTRAKILL may be right up your alley. It’s got kill scoring like Devil May Cry, multipliers, air-dashes, ground pounds, and healing by bathing yourself in the viscera of your obliterated foes. In short, it’s kid friendly.
Brotato (#100)
Need more Vampire Survivors in your life? Check out Brotato which just barely manages to squeak into the top 100.
No Man’s Sky (#28)
No Man’s Sky is currently 50% off (which is as cheap as it ever gets) and just got the Waypoint (4.0) update bringing lots of quality of life improvements. Among those are more difficulty control options, actual auto-saves, and continued graphical improvements.
If the recent reviews on Steam scare you off a bit, most of the negative attention is from folks who have min-maxed everything and saw their benefits halved as Hello Games fixed a longstanding bug. As always, there’s never been a better time for a new player to jump in.
Yakuza: Like a Dragon (#36)
This is the cheapest Yakuza: Like a Dragon has ever been on Steam. That’s only true by like $2, but it’s still technically true and enough of an excuse for me to recommend you try the Yakuza games.
Cheapest ever at $25 (60% off), previous low was $27 during the Summer Sale.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey (#48)
Assassin’s Creed games may be impossible to complete these days, but they’re still darn good at making me want to explore every nook and cranny. I’m something like 40 hours into my playthrough on Series X and I’m still nowhere near completion. How Long to Beat says it takes about 44 hours on average for someone only doing the main quests, 83 hours if you also do side missions, and up to 140 hours for completionists. Good luck.
Cheapest ever at $12 (80% off), previous low was $15.
The Movers 🆙
This is quite the weird list. As far as I can tell, nothing new has been released for either Team Fortress 2 or World of Warships. Maybe a few pieces of DLC went on sale for the latter? New World has some updates coming out later this month including fresh start worlds where nothing is claimed and everyone must start anew.
Warhammer and Fallout 76: The Pitt are both on sale.
+30 Team Fortress 2
+30 New World
The Sliders 🔽
Exactly what you’d expect to see here. Games where either sales have ended or we’ve gotten further away from release.

Longest Lasting ⌛
Not a whole lot to update on this front, as expected. Red Dead Redemption 2 is still the game most at risk, but it did jump up 20 spots to #53 which is pretty safe.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (531 Weeks)
Warframe (498 Weeks)
Grand Theft Auto V (404 Weeks)
The Elder Scrolls Online (403 Weeks)
Rust (381 Weeks)
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege (360 Weeks)
Final Fantasy XIV Online (306 Weeks)
Dead by Daylight (283 Weeks)
Destiny 2 (170 Weeks)
Red Dead Redemption 2 (149 Weeks)
That’s all folks! If you want to compare this week’s newsletter to the numbers from last week’s, here’s a handy link to that.
