Holiday Special #1: Five Fun Stats
With the holidays here, please enjoy the first of two quick special editions.
The holidays are here and I’m both very busy and about to be on break so for the next two weeks, expect shorter than usual newsletters. Today, I’ve got five quick stats for you. Are they at all useful? No. But they wouldn’t fit in anywhere else so you’re going to have them, darn it.
1. Dark and Darker Playtest Has 50,000 Users
I’m mostly pointing this out because I’ve never even heard of it but it’s pretty high on the current charts.
An unforgiving hardcore fantasy FPS dungeon PvPvE adventure. Band together with your friends and use your courage, wits, and cunning to uncover mythical treasures, defeat gruesome monsters, while staying one step ahead of the other devious treasure-hunters.
2. Capcom Arcade Stadium Holds the #12 All Time Peak
In 2021, the game spiked from 29 users one day to 488,791 the next. Legitimate? Absolutely not, but it is funny to see.
3. The PUBG Test Server Has a Higher Peak Than Destiny 2
Who knows if anything will ever eclipse the popularity of PUBG which still holds the all-time peak of 3,250,000, 2.5x more than Lost Ark behind it. It shouldn’t really be surprising, then, that the test server also proved popular to the tune of 320,000 peak players. Higher than what Destiny 2 has ever achieved on Steam and good enough for #22 on the list.
4. More People Are Now Playing an Among Us Clone Than They Are Among Us (On Steam)
I feel like I’ve mentioned Goose Goose Duck before but who knows? Among Us still holds the higher peak concurrents, but the clone is rapidly growing with each passing day. From 6,000 in October to 57,000 in November, to 247,000 today. Among Us is currently sporting about 10,000 peak users per day.
I won’t pretend I can know what’s going on with the users there, but the studio is based in Toronto for what it’s worth.
5. Envoy 2 Is the Highest Ranked Game With 0 Players
Another bot situation. It is the only game in the top 100 that has both of these outside of betas and demos. Others come close, but even small titles like Braveland have some users to speak of. (It’s actually because the game has been pulled from Steam so unless someone is hanging onto a copy, it’s not even around anymore).
Five New Games 🆕
High On Life (#2)
I’m not going to explain High On Life. It’s the Squanch Games and Justin Roiland (Rick and Morty) title where the guns talk at you. It’s available on both Xbox and PC Game Pass.
Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- Reunion (#12)
As someone who played the Final Fantasy VII Remake, can someone tell me why the voice acting in this one is so bad???
Vampire Survivors: Legacy of the Moonspell (#48)
If you, like many others, can’t put Vampire Survivors down, boy do I have bad news for you. There’s a new DLC out that includes a new stage, characters, monsters, and weapons. Good luck.
River City Girls 2 (#65)
Ready for Round 2?
Project: Playtime (#68)
YouTube viewers already know this is out, but for the rest of us, MOB Games has released a multiplayer version of Poppy Playtime where you and five friends work together while trying to escape someone playing Huggy Wuggy, Mommy Long Legs, or Boxy Boo.
